Planting all the things!

I have planted ALL THE THINGS!  And I have the dirt stuck under my fingernails to prove it.

Over the winter a nasty gopher moved into my front flower bed and ate most of it.  In March I redid it.

March

The only thing that I didn't plant were the 3 large purple bushes along the deck in the back.  There were 2 rose bushes left that I moved.  I put in 2 rose colored calla lilies that were very pretty, but didn't do so well.  I think it is too sunny and hot for them in this bed.  Also as it got warmer, some lost lilies decided to regrow in odd locations.  One of the yellow mums died.  And my landlord needed to access the sprinkler system (the flat green panel on the far right) and made a mess of that part of the flower bed.  I left it uncovered, but there was a ton of dirt down inside it, so he had to dig the controls out.  So, time to redo!

Before we move to CA, I saw these amazing plants online that I really liked.  I saw them in yards when I got here.  And I really, really, wanted some.  Guess what I found at Home Depot last week-end?  Lily of the Nile!  I also picked up some Ice Plants a few weeks ago that were looking really unhappy because I hadn't planted them yet.  So, after much digging about and remulching, this is what I have now!

The only thing I didn't get done was replacing the mum that died.  I haven't been able to find one.  I thought about digging up the one next to it and splitting it, but I planted in wire cages and the plant has grown through the cage on one side.  I think I would tear it up too bad if I tried to dig it up now.  Guess I'll just have to keep looking!

Kieran and I started a ton of vegetable seeds that were all ready to go out.  I picked up some tomato plants awhile back and had gotten them started too.  A couple of weeks ago I moved the strawberries out of my planters in the backyard and put them in bowls on the front deck.

Front deck

Broccoli, Strawberries, Carrots

Shad's Mint Plan, Tomatoes

Tomatoes

Peppers, Strawberries, Lettuce and flowers (in black pot)

I decided to move all the lilies to the backyard, where is isn't quite so sunny.  They die back over the winter and leave big gaps in the front flowerbed too.  It won't matter as much in the back.  I'll just plant something as a filler for the winter until they come back.

Backyard - Peas, Rhubarb, planter with lots of stuff

5 planters at other end

Peas

Sunflowers, Lily, Tigger Melon

The only orange on my orange tree!

Lemon cucumbers, moon flower, lily, honeydew melon

Baby boo pumpkin, morning glory, lily, Big Max pumpkin

Cucumber, moon flower, hydrangea, pumpkins

Small pumpkin, morning glory, lily, gourd

White cucumber, moon flower, lily, cantaloupe

Now the question is, will something come along and eat everything out of my planters?  I can't plant seeds in the backyard or plants that are too small because something will come along and dig them up.  Hopefully I let everything get big enough this year.  Guess only time will tell!
