I'm not in Kansas anymore

Ok, so really Minnesota, but it just doesn't have the same ring to it.

I was just checking the weather for tomorrow. Every once in awhile, I check the weather back in Shakopee. Mostly because we still have a house for sale there, but sometimes out of curiosity. Because, really, who know what it will be doing in MN. It could be 80 or it could be a blizzard!

Anyway, I noticed that the weather was pretty similar to here. Almost the same high and the lows were just a little bit lower. I scrolled down to see the humidity and then I saw the map of the Shakopee area. And I thought: "Wow! That looks really strange. Look at all the brown land!" You see, when I look at the weather map half the picture is blue ocean and most of the rest is green mountains. There is just a little bit of the flat, brown land around the edges.

Then I cried, because sometime in the last 7 months CA has become home.  I still marvel at the ocean as I drive the boys to and from school, but every once in awhile I catch myself deep in thought and realize that I am in Devil's Slide and haven't looked out the window since I left Half Moon Bay.  I am a "volunteer" mom at school.   I can drive to the Zoo and the Discovery Museum without directions.  CA license plates don't surprise me anymore.  I have a pile of clothes and miscellaneous house stuff to donate.  My house is dirty enough to spring clean.

I am home.

  1. Home is where you make it, honey! I'm glad you're getting settled in. Moving from MN to CA was a BIG step, but you handled it well. Love you, sweetie!
